I can’t help but noticing you posted the version of the Honda ad with the karaoke subtitles.
But do you know the story behind it? (you probably do, but here goes anyway)
They aired it like that, with the subtitles, right before England was to play in the European Championship of 200?
So imagine the scene: every pub in the whole of England packed with England supporters who came to watch the match among friends. And right before the match starts, this comes on…
And by then England winning the championship is pretty much an impossible dream.
So everyone starts singing along: “To dream the impossible dream…to fight the unbeatable foe…”
Every single pub in the whole of Blighty, filled with people singing along to this song, all in unison across Britain… people had tears in their eyes.
It was beautiful.
Or how a TV ad can be contextual, social, and engaging.
